Creative Workers Can Thrive In New Economy
02 December 2008
You can find many different jobs that satisfy your creative side.
People who thrive on creativity can find job opportunities and satisfaction in almost any field, especially in a career landscape that has changed dramatically over the years.

Columnist Melissa Ezarik cited five particularly promising careers for creative people this week on Yahoo.com's HotJobs section: Advertising Copywriter, Architect, Freelance Writer, Management Analyst and Product Developer.

These are just some of the many job titles that require a creative mind and at least some training - and some options, such as freelance writing, provide an almost endless range of opportunities to settle into a particular niche or specialty, such as technical writing or current events writing.

"Traditional business models no longer hold (and) the customer demands innovation. Creative leadership is required for innovation," Linda Naiman of CreativityatWork.com told Ezarik.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job demand for copywriters in general is expected to grow at about 10 percent in the next decade, on a consistent par with most other fields. Interactive media and online business newsletters are cited as some of the most promising writing options for beginners.

The BLS also reports that the other careers cited by Ezarik are also set to see decent growth in the coming years - particularly management analysts and architects, although these fields require extensive training.
